Is TV Messing With Your Health? For Every Two Hours You Watch, This Happens

I don't watch a lot of TV, but when Monday nights roll around, you know where to find me: Lounging back on the couch, wine glass in hand, watching the Bachelorette! But, researchers have a surprising new warning about what TV may be doing to our health...

Guess what? For every 2 hours of TV you watch per day, you're increasing your risk for diabetes by 20 percent and your risk for heart disease by 15 percent. Kind of shocking, isn't it? This is all according to a study by Harvard researchers, who warn that U.S. residents watch way too much TV--an average of 5 hours a day. Eeks!

"The message is simple. Cutting back on TV watching is an important way to reduce sedentary behaviors and decrease risk of diabetes and heart disease," Hu said.
